Dr. Walters is originally from Louisiana and attended Tulane University, Loyola University and did oral surgery training with Louisiana State University. Dr. Walters’ resume includes having served many national roles including editorial board of the Journal of Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery and Oral Pathology and serving on the examining committee of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for seven years. He served as chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ochsner Foundation and was involved in the training of oral and maxillofacial surgery residents of LSU. He has lectured to fellow dentists, physicians and medical and dental personnel throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Central America on subjects including dental implants, temporomandibular joint disease diagnosis and management, and cosmetic surgical procedures.
Although his resume covers a broad spectrum of topics, Dr. Walters currently focuses on office procedures including dental implants, wisdom tooth removal and bone regeneration techniques. He and Dr. Smith serve as co-directors of the Crescent City Study Club and Peer Practicuum Study Club and sponsor meetings and seminars for the local dentists, featuring national speaker designed to keep the dental community up to date on all the technological advances in dentistry. Dr. Walters enjoys playing a part in the continuing education of the dentists in the community.
Dr. Walters is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the New Orleans Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Louisiana Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
