Dr. Misiek is a nationally renowned board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who brings years of experience and dedication to the care of his patients. After studying biology and earning his dental degree at the University of Connecticut, he has worked alongside highly trained and skilled professionals throughout his widely respected academic and private practice career.
Motivated by patient care and opportunities to teach, he remains active in teaching and learning today’s cutting-edge treatments for his patients’ care. Referring doctors regard him as their go-to guy for all of their patients’ oral surgery needs. Known both nationally and internationally for his expertise and academic successes regarding oral surgery and care, he is always looking for ways to keep learning about the things he is most passionate about and providing exemplary, compassionate treatment to his patients.
Dr. Misiek studied biological sciences during his undergrad at the University of Connecticut. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from the University of Connecticut in 1978 and completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, serving as Chief Resident his final year.
After residency, Dr. Misiek went into private practice in the Metro New Orleans area until joining the faculty at LSU School of Dentistry as Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program, eventually rising to a professor. There, he was a founding member of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial team, and his primary emphasis was reconstructive orthognathic surgery. Dr. Misiek served as a board examiner, second chairman, and regional advisor to the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for eight years.
After serving 14 years in academics at LSU, he shifted his focus to patient care and transitioned to private practice in North Carolina. Now, Dr. Misiek is returning to New Orleans with his wife, Holly, and is eager to join the highly regarded Oral Surgery Services team by maintaining optimal, quality care for his patients.
Dr. Misiek is board-certified and is professionally affiliated with several national and regional organizations, including the American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Association. Recently, he was honored with a two-year appointment as a Board Member of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation whose mission is to support oral and maxillofacial surgery through research and education.
At the age of 12, he hit the game-winning home run in the final inning of the Little League World Series for his hometown team, Windsor Locks. Now, Dr. Misiek enjoys cooking, fitness, and live music. He is a die-hard Saints and LSU fan and is an active member of his church parish in North Carolina. Dr. Misiek volunteers at the local men’s shelter doing pro bono oral surgery and loves giving back to the community. He is a committed and respected leader and educator in non-opioid alternatives for post-surgical analgesia and often lectures around the country on behalf of Pacira Pharmaceuticals and Exparel®. Dr. Misiek looks forward to once again serving the Metro New Orleans community by exceeding the standard of oral surgery care.
